The country of Jordan, which is part of the 1040 window, is an interesting place to live as a Christian. Our ministry in Jordan consisted of many home visits. We met two people along the way that were from Iraq.
They were in Jordan as refugees due to persecution in their own country. On our first home visit, we went in and were talking to a man who had been tortured by Isis. He described being kidnapped, whipped, threatened, and being put through torture to break his spirit. This continued for 10 days. While in captivity he consistently cried out to the Lord to rescue him. His kidnappers told him to simply renounce his faith so that he could be set free. This man was only there, because he loved Jesus. Much like many of the disciples, He was prepared to die for the Gospel. Eventually, he heard from the Lord that he would indeed be rescued. God sent a family friend who happened to be related to one of the Isis members.
In the country of Jordan it is illegal to be a Christian. We witnessed men and women who paid for the gospel. They paid in ways that are difficult to understand. Many lost their businesses, homes, and many of them lost their family members. And in each case however each one was willing to lay down their life for the gospel. It was a sobering month for me. It was a month of morning. The Lord is good and gracious, and placed me in that country to go through this season for a reason. I think a lot of us would say that there isn’t anything we wouldn’t give up for the Lord but when you sit across from people who have paid the Ultimate price, it’s different. This last month was a time where I really witnessed how worth it is to follow Christ! Not to mention how grateful I am that I can worship freely.
I am so excited to announce that I will be leading a gap year squad starting in September. My team will have 40, 18 to 20-year-olds who have recently graduated from high school. Which means I’ll be home for exactly 21 days before we return to the field.
I am leading with Emmery my older sister!!! I linked my fundraising page if anyone feels lead to donate I’d appreciate it. Thanks so much.

One response to “Gap Year!!!”

  1. Wow, Bankos. I am continually amazed with the Lord and His testimony through the people we have met over this year, and through you and me too! You are EXACTLY the vessel God has chosen to use to proclaim His grace and truth, and to lead this specific Gap Year squad into a deeper knowledge of Christ. Praise God for Christ in YOU!
