We are currently in Turkey and what an interesting place! “Religion” is everything here: you can’t escape it. It’s ingrained into ever part of life and many people who live here have turned away from religion because of it. It’s a place where people don’t have hope, where the god they believe in, doesn’t necessarily love them. Where everything they do gets weighed. Being part of the Islamic religion is like having a constant microscope on you. Everything you do wrong or bad is weighted against the good. This includes every little mistake and every missed call to prayer. Being a Muslim is something that’s often expected of them. There are mosques everywhere. Literally everywhere and the call to prayer is always going off. If you live your whole life and do more good then bad, it still may not be enough. Your deeds still may not allow you to enter paradise. For many here, the pressure is too much. These people have never heard the gospel, they don’t know the hope we have in Jesus. It’s really changed me, in America we grow up and take all of this for granted. The gospel is everywhere. These people don’t know there is a living God who loves them and died for them! Please pray for the people in Turkey!
